Dear María,
I would like to thank you for your generous donation of 25 copies of Born into The Pack/Nacer en la Manada. In-kind donations from generous people like you sustain our organization. These contributions help the International Wolf Center pursue its critical mission to support the survival of the wolf through worldwide public education. Reach
Out and Read is a program for Doctors that promotes early
literacy by bringing new books and advice about the importance of
reading aloud into the pediatric exam room. We
invite you to join us in our support. See
donation information |
Doctors and nurses give new books to children at each well child visit from 6 months of age to 5 years, and accompany these books with developmentally appropriate advice to parents about reading aloud with their child. The ROR program model is based on research that shows a connection between the frequency of sharing books with babies, toddlers and young children and enhanced language development.
Dear María,
Thank you for donating 4 boxes of The Afternoon Snack/La Merienda to Read Out and Read (ROR) in February 2005. The books will be used in doctor's offices in the Yavapai County programs in
Arizona. This document is an acknowledgement of your donation.
Early exposure to books and the satisfaction that results when a parent and child read together form the basis for future learning. Evidence continues to build showing that intervention by pediatricians can dramatically affect parents' reading practices at home. Recent studies have shown that giving books to infants and toddlers changes parental attitudes and behaviors and improves child language outcomes.
On behalf of all the children who are growing up with books and a love of reading, all the parents who are sharing the closeness of reading with their children, and all the clinicians who are supporting the healthy development of their patients, we are most grateful for your support.
Sincerely,
Perri Klass, MD
Medical Director and President
